EPR is Mandatory!

EPR is Mandatory for All Producers of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) under E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016.

As per E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016. EPR is Mandatory for All Producers of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE). EPR Authorisation is required to ensure that end-of-life EEE (E-Waste) generated from the products of the producers are channelised to authorised dismantlers/recyclers.

As per sub-rule 3(1) (cc) of the Rules ‘Producer’ is a person who, irrespective of the selling technique used such as dealer, retailer, e-retailer, manufactures and places on the market the electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) under its own brand; or offers to sell under its own brand, assembled electrical and electronic equipment and their components or consumables or parts or spares produced by other manufacturers or suppliers; or Offers to sell imported electrical and electronic equipment and their components or consumables or parts or spares. The producers are hereby informed that the sale of their EEE listed in Schedule – I without obtaining EPR – Authorisation from CPCB is a violation of E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016 notified under E(P) Act 1986 (29 of 1986).
